Responsible for performing phlebotomy and assisting with clinical laboratory procedures under the supervision of a medical technologist. Duties include maintaining patient records, laboratory documentation, and charting results.
Requires a high school diploma and current BLS certification. Preference is given to candidates with ASCP phlebotomy certification and at least one year of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
Responsible for all phlebotomy and assisting with the performance of some of the Clinical Laboratory procedures under the supervision of a medical technologist. This person will maintain patient results records, laboratory documents, log sheets, make daily charges, as well as chart results. Working knowledge and ability to apply professional standards of practice in job situations. QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalent required. Current BLS certification from an approved vendor required. Additional Qualifications/Skills: ASCP phlebotomy certification preferred. Documented training in all areas of the clinical laboratory preferred. Experience in a clinical laboratory, hospital, or critical care setting for a minimum of one (1) year preferred. Ability to work with Laboratory instrumentation with minimal supervision preferred. Ability to project a professional image Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements. Strong organizational, prioritizing and analytical skills. Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant. Working knowledge of computer and software applications used in job functions. Freedom from illegal use of and effects of use of drugs and alcohol in the workplace. CERTIFICATES, LICENSURES, REGISTRATIONS: Current BLS certification from an approved vendor required. ASCP phlebotomy certification preferred.
