The COTA provides compassionate, hands-on care to a community-based caseload to promote functional independence and quality of life. They implement individualized treatment plans under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist while ensuring patient safety.
Candidates must be graduates of a state-approved Occupational Therapy Assistant program and hold a valid state license or certification. Additional requirements include BLS certification, a valid driver's license with insurance, and mandatory reporter status.
· Ensures quality and safe delivery of services to patients according to care plan. Uses equipment and supplies safely, effectively, and efficiently. · Consistently utilizes a patient-centered approach considering physical, psych/social, spiritual, educational, safety and related criteria appropriate to the age of the patients served in assigned service area. · Treats patients/clients to relieve pain, develop or restore function and maintain maximum performance using specified occupational therapy procedures. · Directs and aids patients/clients in plan of treatment. · Delivers quality care consistent with Home Health Conditions of Participation, qualifying home care criteria, payor coverage criteria, and providing visits/treatments consistent with the plan of care.
Education: Graduate of State Board approved program for Occupational Therapy Assistants Licensure/Certifications: Licensed, registered, or certified as an Occupational Therapy Assistant by the state(s) where providing services ICM Certification Valid licensed driver with automobile insurance in accordance with state(s) and/or organizational requirements. Mandatory Reporter: Child & Dependent Adult Abuse. CPR: Maintain a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Card with Re-certification.
