Provide comprehensive midwifery services including prenatal care, labor evaluation, and assisting in cesarean sections. Manage patient admissions, documentation in EMR systems, and coordinate discharge planning and patient education.
Requires a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) and Nurse Midwife certification. Must hold a current Pennsylvania Registered Nurse license along with BLS and ACLS certifications.
· Perform evaluation and management for OB care for patients in the OBGyn Clinic · Completes ACOG Prenatal Records and assigns risk factors · Evaluates the progress in labor and actively participates in clinical care · Acts as first assist for cesarean sections · Completes admission assessment according to policy. · Performs circumcisions · Anticipates potential length of stay or discharge problems · Performs physical exam on initial visit and reports abnormal findings to MD · Orders appropriate lab studies as indicated · Participates in discharge planning · Documents in a clear and legible manner in EMR system · Utilizes the information management system to enhance communication · Communicates and documents change in patient’s condition to all appropriate individuals. · Individualizes and documents educational plan based on age, cultural and spiritual values. · Communicates transfer of patient responsibility. · Documents emergency interventions according to policy. · Documents medication use and controlled substance per policy · Assesses learning needs, readiness to learn and actual or potential barriers to learning. · Recognizes and integrates patient special needs and individualizes care. · Includes pain management and supportive care issues in the plan of care. · Adheres to infection control standards specific to patient care. · Delegates work to the care team. · Plans delivery of care according to patient acuity and staff competencies.
