Conducts intake and discharge assessments and provides individual and group counseling for clients with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders. Develops therapeutic treatment plans and coordinates clinical care in collaboration with medical and psychiatric staff.
Requires a professional license such as LADC, LMFT, LPC, or LMSW/LCSW. A Master's degree in behavioral sciences and two years of counseling experience are preferred.
Excellent communication skills and customer service representation. Knowledge of principles and techniques of counseling. Knowledge of American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) requirements and core principles. Ability to gather, analyze and evaluate information pertinent to the care of clients. Ability to meet Agency and regulatory body standards of documentation. Knowledge of the physical, psychological, social and economic effects of substance abuse, homelessness, medical and mental health issues. Knowledge of community resources. Considerable knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations regarding client confidentiality. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative professional relationships. Ability to project a professional image. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Licensed alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), License Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Masters/Clinical Social Worker (LMSW/LCSW). Master’s degree in the behavioral sciences and two (2) years experience in counseling preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
