SVH Physical Therapy

SUMMARY
- The Physical Therapist provides therapy treatments in a professional, efficient, and therapeutic manner.
- Use many different types of equipment and procedures.
- Utilization of manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, gait training, patient education, and modalities.
- They may be required to do some office work, answer the telephone, and take messages.
- Supervision and training of Physical Therapy Assistants and Physical Therapy Aides are also required.
Essential duties and responsibilities
Includes but not limited to the following
- Meets the patients’ goals and needs and provides quality care by assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results; determining therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians or by prescription.
- Assist patients in the accomplishment of treatment plans and goals.
- Implement therapeutic devices by administering exercises; instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients in performing physical activities and daily living activities.
- Evaluates effects of therapy treatments by observing, noting, and evaluating patients’ progress; recommending adjustments and modifications.
- Completes discharge planning by consulting with physicians, medical assistants, and other health care workers; contributes to patient care conferences.
- Assures continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing home exercise programs; instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs; recommending and/or providing assistive equipment; recommending outpatient or home health follow-up programs.
- Documents patient care services in a timely manner by charting in patient and department records in compliance with Medicare guidelines.
- Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions and informing management when repairs are needed
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks, and keeping current with continuing education units required by the state.
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Maintains a good working relationship within the department, management, and referring providers
- Seeks supervision and consultation with management when needed.
- Other duties as assigned
- EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Current California License.
- Maintain continuing education credits required by the California PT Board/California OT Board.
- Current CPR certification.
