Assist physicians during surgery by performing tasks such as opening and closing surgical sites, dissecting tissue, and implanting devices. Additionally, fulfill the role of a Certified Surgical Technologist when not acting as a First Assistant.
Requires current CSFA certification from the NBSTSA and BLS certification. Preference is given to candidates with at least two years of experience as both a CST and CSFA and graduation from an accredited Surgical Technologist Program.
Surgical First Assistants assist physicians in surgery and may perform specific surgical tasks under “professional supervision”. Significant surgical tasks include but are not limited to opening and closing surgical sites, exposure of the surgical site, harvesting grafts, dissecting tissue, removing tissue, implanting devices, and altering tissues. Perform the CST role when not utilized in the First Assistant Role.
Current Certification from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA). BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care. Previous CST experience (prefer two years). Previous CSFA experience (prefer minimum 2 years exp). Graduated from an accredited Surgical Technologist Program. Current CSFA certification.
