The Peer Support Specialist provides emotional support and hope to individuals and families to minimize the impact of treatment and increase recovery likelihood. They collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to coordinate care and assist patients in transitioning to appropriate levels of care during discharge.
A high school diploma or GED is required, with an associate degree preferred and a minimum of six months of recovery from substance use or mental health disorders. A Certified Peer Support Specialist certification is required for specific screening and assessment programs.
