The PRSS serves as an advocate and mentor for individuals recovering from substance use disorders, helping them achieve personal goals and maintain sobriety. Responsibilities include leading peer recovery groups, facilitating skill-building activities, and providing supportive services like transportation and medication reminders.
Candidates must have a high school diploma, lived experience of recovery from substance use disorders, and a minimum of two years of sobriety. State or nationally recognized peer certification is required, and one year of experience in the field is preferred.
The Peer Recovery Support Specialist (PRSS) serves as an advocate and mentor for individuals in recovery from substance use disorders. This role provides support, guidance, and resources to help individuals achieve personal goals and maintain sobriety. The PRSS facilitates skill-building activities, leads peer recovery groups, and assists individuals in managing life roles such as employee, parent, or student. Supportive services may also include transportation, medication reminders, or assistance with daily tasks.
