• Job
• Summary: Provides accurate, timely, and customer-focused collection and processing of laboratory specimens to ensure cost-effective laboratory testing for patients according to approved policies and procedures.
• Major
• Responsibilities: Collection of Patient specimens in accordance with accepted laboratory standards and policies and procedures in order to ensure optimal specimen integrity and accurate test results. Processes incoming laboratory orders and specimens in a customer-focused cost-effective manner to ensure quality patient care results. Perform and assist in noninvasive electrocardiography cardiology services. Timely reporting of patient results and collection logs to maintain quality patient care. Actively participates in Performance Improvement and Advocate Experience activities within the department. Maintains a minimum level of competency on policies and procedures. Performs glucose time tests according to established procedures. Maintains work area.

• Required: High School diploma or equivalent. Pediatric and Adult patient population experience.

• Required: Knowledge of basic phlebotomy technique and the use of vacutainers, needles, and syringes. Basic familiarity with CRT’s and keyboards. Exceptional patient relation skills. Is eligible to sit for ASCP phlebotomy certification exam , formalized phlebotomy educational program or pertinent on the job experience is acceptable

• Conditions: Able to access work area. Ability to work under stressful conditions and in difficult situations Ability to work Saturday morning shifts *Ability to lift/transport specimens, specimen containers, and biohazard bags weighing up to 40 pounds. May be exposed to potentially toxic and/or carcinogenic solutions and vapors. Able to work in a fast-paced environment with established time constraints. Routinely works with biohazardous specimens and infectious agents. This job description indicates the general nature and level of work expected of the incumbent.
