The Monitor Technician observes and analyzes cardiac rhythms on telemetry monitors to identify life-threatening arrhythmias and notify nursing staff. They are also responsible for maintaining monitoring equipment and performing clerical duties such as order entry and chart management.
A high school diploma or GED is required, while an associate degree and one year of experience as a monitor technician are preferred. Candidates must be competent in using telemetry monitoring systems and interpreting heartbeat patterns.
