The CT Technologist is responsible for operating CT scanners to produce high-quality diagnostic images and administering contrast media. They must prepare patients for procedures, monitor for adverse reactions, and perform routine equipment quality assurance.
Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience as a Registered Radiologic Technologist and 1 year of CT experience. Required certifications include ARRT or CMRT, BLS, and a current state license.
Prepare the patient for diagnostic procedures by explaining the process and creating a comfortable environment. Use of proper patient positioning and technical factors to consistently produce quality diagnostic studies. Correctly operate a CT scanner to produce cross-sectional images of desired patient anatomy. Administer contrast media as directed by referring physician. Monitor the patient for any adverse drug events and report accordingly. Perform routine quality assurance on equipment and identify basic malfunctions. Perform clerical duties, as needed, such as answering phones.
At least 2 years experience as a Registered Radiologic Technologist and hold current state license (as required). At least 1 year experience as a CT Technologist (not including school). Must have ARRT or CMRT certification. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Must be current with Continuing Education in all fields of licensure.
