The Hospice Volunteer actively supports quality care by providing respite services, emotional support, and compassionate care to patients and their families across various settings like home care or administrative duties. This role involves serving as a substitute caregiver performing agreed-upon activities, such as homemaker chores, running errands, and documenting interactions under the guidance of the Volunteer Coordinator.
Candidates must possess an active Oklahoma driver's license, current car insurance, and a required vehicle, along with essential personal qualities like patience, compassion, empathy, and critical thinking skills. Applicants must also meet all health requirements, participate in training, and be mature individuals supportive of the Hospice philosophy.
The Hospice Volunteer has an important role in actively helping Hospice companies provide quality care. The Hospice Volunteer’s roles and functions require the Volunteer serving in that capacity to be knowledgeable about current standards of practice in caring for Hospice clients. The Hospice Volunteer plays a pivotal role in providing respite services, emotional support and compassionate care. The Hospice Volunteer’s services promote the comfort and support of patients and their families.
