Job description
Under the general and direct supervision of the dentist, assists during the examination and treatment of patients. Dentist has functional responsibility for Dental Assistant Non-Exempt
Essential Duties Major responsibilities
Demonstrate working knowledge of implant procedures including instruments, equipment, etc.
Set up and assist for Invisalign procedures
Set up and assist for implant restoration procedures
Set up and assist for implant surgery procedures
Set up and assist for advanced oral surgery procedures (bone grafting, sinus lifting)
Assist with Cerec Crown design
Maintain Cerec Crown equipment
Perform polishing of Cerec Crown
Expose CBCT images
Train new employees, student interns and dental assistant apprentices.
Prepare patient and operatory for dental treatment.
Review and enter patient medical history into electronic dental record.
Take blood pressure and pulse as required.
Remain with assigned provider for duration of procedures.
Remain with patient in operatory.
Maintain dental instruments, materials and medications in the quantities to be used for general and specialized scheduled treatment.
Maintain organization of instruments/supplies/treatment rooms.
Follow infection control protocols and procedures.
Take radiographs (must be State Certified see below).
Keep oral operating field clean during dental procedures.
Prepare restorative materials and dental cements.
Prepare impression materials, take, and pour up dental impressions as required.
Prepare and sterilize instruments following procedures.
Operate equipment safely including autoclave, ultrasonic cleaner, vibrator, stone trimmer, etc.
Prepare work to be sent to dental laboratories.
Perform routine maintenance described as follows: cleaning sterilizers, lubricate equipment, replace expendable parts, clean
operatories and any other routine maintenance duties as assigned.
Help patients with understanding appointments, payments, etc. when required.
Assist provider with entering billing codes before dismissing a patient.
Assist provider with end of day tasks including printing and checking of the day sheet.
Scan documents into computer as required.
Work as part of a team and help other assistants and dentists as needed.
Work in other sites including Fitchburg, Leominster, Gardner and ACTION as needed
Communicate effectively with other staff and patients in a respectful manner.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma required. Additional training that leads to a basic knowledge of dental terminology and dental service procedures preferred.
Three year’s experience in a dental office preferred.
DANB CDA or equivalent experience preferred
MA Dental Assisting License
Radiology Certificate
CPR Certified
Proficient reading, writing, and speaking in English.
Demonstrated interpersonal relationship skills
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, physically demanding office environment

Environmental Working Conditions
The environment is a normal office environment of a busy Community Health Center. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to saliva and blood-borne pathogens. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and risk of radiation.
