We create a home environment for our residents and employees. We are looking for Medication Technicians who are passionate about caring for our exceptional people.
This position is responsible for the accurate administering of medications to residents.

Minimum Training and Experience
Must be 18 years old. Must hold a High School Diploma or equivalent. Medication Technician Certification through an approved training program required. Must be in good standing with the NC Medication Aide Registry and have passed the state-approved competency exam.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Prepares and dispenses medications to residents in accurate, timely manner.
Accurately documents all medications administered on MAR.
Performs medication check-off with incoming shift nurse or medication administrator.
Reports any discrepancies in MAR and/or medication check-off.
Responds to emergency situations.
Communicates with physicians and dentists as to client needs and follow-up.
Assists nursing staff with the preparation of various feeding equipment and formulas prescribed for individual clients.
Assists Director of Nursing and Nutritionist with regular weighing, monthly and measuring height, quarterly for all clients.
Assists nursing department with the compilation of requisition forms, inventories, ordering, checking and storing all medical supplies.
Completes resident monthly summaries on rotating basis as assigned.
Performs other duties as necessary or as assigned by nurse or supervisor.
Qualifications: & Skills
Requirements
Must possess valid Medication Technician Certification through an approved training program.
Must be in good standing with the NC Medication Aide Registry and have passed the state-approved competency exam.
Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills
Must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must be able to lift, push, pull and move forty (40) pounds in performing various client movement with the possibility of client resistance.
Full range of motion (above the head, to the side, front and back) is required with hands, arms and shoulders.
Should be able to operate under the following outside conditions associated with field trips and other recreational outings: heat, cold, wind, grass/weeds, sun, etc.
Should be able to safely handle: various cleaning supplies, blood/air borne pathogens and other potentially dangerous materials.
Must possess the properties of awareness/peripheral vision, average hearing, average stamina and adequate balance & agility in order to provide constant care and support to clients.
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and go up and down stairs.
Must be able to kneel, stoop, bend, and push, i.e. operating wheelchairs, lifts, tilt tables, etc.
Hand, wrist and finger mobility as well as eye-hand coordination is needed, i.e. placing tubes for tube feedings, fastening slings to mechanical lifts, etc.
Must possess adequate communication abilities with clear speech, i.e. providing vocal reinforcement for specific client behavior, etc.
Should possess an average sense of smell for detecting any changes in the environment which might signal the need for action, i.e. changing a client’s diaper.
Preferred
At least one year of pediatric or long-term care experience with knowledge of ICF/IDD helpful
Proficient in electronic medical documentation
Certification in Adult and Pediatric CPR, First-Aid, AED and BLS
Valid NC driver’s license
