Facilitates patient care by performing preliminary work-ups, technical examinations, and diagnostic testing to support clinicians. Responsibilities include obtaining medical histories, administering ocular drops, and managing patient scheduling and education.
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and proficiency with electronic tools; BLS certification is strongly preferred. Candidates must obtain JCAHPO certification within two years of hire.
High School diploma or equivalency certificate (e.g. GED, HiSET, TASC Test) from an accredited institution or governmental unit American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required based on specialty Proven ability to use all electronic tools and applications relevant to the performance of the duties of the position, including but not limited to phone, keyboard, computer and computer applications Proven to performs all job functions in compliance with applicable federal, state, local and company policies and procedures Accesses only the minimum necessary protected health information (PHI) for the performance of job duties. Actively protects the confidentiality and privacy of all protected health information they access in all its forms (written, verbal, and electronic, etc.) taking reasonable precautions to prohibit unauthorized access. Complies with all Atrius Health and departmental privacy policies, procedures and protocols. Follows HIPAA privacy guidelines without deviation when handling protected health information
Course work or equivalent training in ocular anatomy and physiology, ophthalmic optics, ophthalmic pharmacology and toxicology, ocular motility, and diseases of the eye 1+ years of experience working in an ophthalmic/optometric practice setting Win a contact lens practice experience in patient education regarding the use of contact lens Knowledge of basic visual testing Working in a contact lens practice knowledge of patient education regarding the use of contact lens WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMAND Busy office environment with frequent deadlines and interruptions.
