Provide specialized perinatal care to high-risk pregnancy patients under physician supervision. Responsibilities include performing physical exams, formulating medical protocols, and managing patient medical records.
Must hold a current Tennessee license and certification as a Women’s Healthcare Nurse Practitioner, Nurse Midwife, or Family Nurse Practitioner. CPR certification is also required.
Overview Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant, Cumberland Women's Healthcare Full Time, 72 Hours Per Pay Period, Day Shift Perinatal Overview: Fort Sanders Perinatal Center, part of Covenant Health, specializes in caring for women with high-risk pregnancies. For more than 25 years, the center has provided expert guidance and advanced services for complex conditions such as multiples, maternal age, diabetes, hypertension, and infertility-related pregnancies. With locations in Knoxville, Morristown, and Sevierville, the team is dedicated to helping families make informed decisions and ensuring the safest possible outcomes for mothers and babies.
Provide perinatal care to patients under the supervision of a physician preceptor, following established medical protocols.
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program and safety standards. Provides direct patient care, evaluates outcomes, consults with other specialists as required, and adjusts processes as indicated to ensure optimal patient care. Collaborates with physician preceptor to formulate and review medical protocols. Obtains complete medical history of the patient. Identifies health hazards in the patient's environment, as well as patient risk factors. Identifies and considers the cultural patterns, economic status and patient resources in plan of care. Performs appropriate physical exam as indicated. Obtains appropriate laboratory specimens. Analyzes objective and subjective data for appropriate diagnosis and treatment. Assures treatment and/or plan of care is consistent with established protocols. Monitors and ensures accuracy of recording on patient medical records and maintains all required reports, records, statistics, etc. Documents all pertinent information accurately, legibly, and in a timely manner. Refers patient to appropriate services which exceed scope of practice of the practitioner. Provides health promotion counseling and develops patient teaching information. Serves as a resource person for other staff personnel. May supervise clinical staff. Responsible for periodic review of policy and procedures. Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in field of expertise. Attends meetings as required and participates on committees as directed. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Minimum Education None specified; however, must be sufficient to meet the standards for achievement of the below indicated license and/or certification as required by the issuing authority. Minimum Experience None Required Licensure Requirement Current TN license. Must hold certification as a Women’s Healthcare Nurse Practitioner, a Nurse Midwife or Family Nurse Practitioner. CPR required.
