Perform technical procedures across various clinical laboratory areas to provide timely and accurate test results for physician diagnosis. Handle clerical tasks, computer usage, and the processing of potentially infectious blood and body fluid specimens.
Requires a BS in medical technology or biological sciences and a current California CLS license. Candidates should have 0-3 years of hospital laboratory experience and proficiency with LIS and standard office software.
$76.65 - $93.46 + applicable differentials
Under the direction of the Director, Laboratory Supervisor, or Lead CLS, the CLS performs technical procedures working with little or no direct supervision in any area of the clinical laboratory. These areas include Bood Bank, Chemistry, Coagulation, Hematology, Microbiology, Serology, and Urinalysis. Must perform and report timely and accurate test results to assist physicians in their diagnosis and treatment. Duties include clerical tasks, computer usage, related laboratory services. Works with potentially infectious blood and body fluids specimens. Must be competency to assess and meet the needs of patients of all age groups or contact appropriate hospital resource for guidance. Must also maintain a working knowledge of CLUA, FDA, and Agency standards. In addition to performing the essential functions listed below, may also be assigned other duties, shifts, or departmental; and quality standards.
Education Required: BS or equivalent on medical technology or biological sciences Desired: Advanced degree or certification Licenses Required Current CA CLS license Work Experience Required: 0-3 years of experience in a hospital or refence laboratory Desired: Generalist experience in all areas of the laboratory Language Skills Required: Ability to read, comprehend, and write English with good spoken skills Computer Skills Required: Working knowledge if LIS systems. Must be proficient with standards word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint, or similar programs Desired: Background/Knowledge of standard DB systems desirable Other Skills and Abilities Required: Experience with automated laboratory instruments, effective verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able to work weekends, variable shifts, etc.
