The Anesthesia Technician is responsible for cleaning, calibrating, and maintaining anesthesia equipment and supply carts. They also support the care team by transporting patients and assisting with room turnover and procedure preparation.
Candidates must hold a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers. Level II candidates require demonstrated experience as an Anesthesia Tech I and proficiency in sterile techniques.
The Anesthesia Technician is a vital member of the Anesthesia Care Team, committed to ensuring safe and effective anesthetic experiences. This role encompasses a variety of technical responsibilities, including cleaning and calibrating anesthesia machines, stocking supplies, and monitoring equipment quality. The technician is also responsible for transporting patients and performing routine patient care tasks, while providing critical support during emergency situations. Additionally, the technician assists with machine turnover and procedure preparation and may be required to be on call as needed. Posting Specifics Pay Ranges: $19.31 - $26.22/hour (Level I) (depending on experience). $19.87 - $28.31/hour (Level II) (depending on experience) + Night Shift Differential Benefits Eligible: Yes (Health, Vision, & Dental Insurance, 401(K), education assistance, + many more) Shift Details: Full-time, 40 hours/week. Night shift. 8:45 p.m. - 7:15 a.m. with call requirements Department: Operating Room, St. Vincent Regional Hospital (Billings, Montana) The selected candidate will be placed into the job level based on meeting the minimum requirements below. Essential Functions Checks, calibrates, restocks, prepares, and maintains basic anesthesia equipment and supply carts across all areas supported by the anesthesia team. Ensures all equipment is properly sterilized and functioning according to standards. Assists with room turnover and prepares anesthesia equipment for subsequent procedures. Manages the collection, cleaning, and proper processing of contaminated anesthesia equipment following procedures. Disinfects and cleans anesthesia equipment, the surrounding environment, and instrumentation in accordance with the manufacturer's Instructions for Use (IFU). Transports patients, including low-acuity patients, ensuring safe and efficient movement to and from the operating room and other designated areas. Performs Point-of-Care testing, including conducting and maintaining quality control procedures, and sterilizes equipment using appropriate methods. May be required to be on call and/or float to other departments based on operational needs, within the scope of competency and qualifications. Demonstrated competency and experience as an Anesthesia Tech I (Basic) or equivalent Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and work under moderate supervision Effective organizational and communication skills Basic knowledge of anesthesia equipment and sterile technique Demonstrated proactive approach to anticipating and fulfilling anesthesia needs and requests Physical Requirements Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies. Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations. Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc. Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items (instrument sets of 25 pounds or less). Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.) May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.
