Performs technical aspects of medication preparation, distribution, and inventory control under physician supervision. Responsibilities include compounding chemotherapy and non-chemotherapy IVs while adhering to OSHA and safety guidelines.
Requires a high school diploma and 2-3 years of pharmacy technician or related healthcare experience. Certification from a State Pharmacy Board or CPhT is preferred or required within the first year of employment.
Under direct supervision of a physician working within a clinic admixture room, performs the technical, nonjudgmental aspects of medication preparation, distribution, record keeping and inventory control. Tasks are subject to sequential or final verification by a registered nurse or a registered pharmacist. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
High School Diploma or Equivalent Minimum of 2-3 years of pharmacy technician or other related health care experience Knowledge of pharmaceuticals, pharmacy calculations, and related medical technology Graduation from VoTech Pharmacy Technician Program desired but not required Certified Pharmacy Technician Certificate or State Pharmacy Board Preferred (If not certified at hiring, certification with the first year of employment will be required) Intravenous drug and Chemotherapy compounding experience preferred, but not required PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
