The HIM Specialist ensures the quality maintenance of patient medical records in compliance with federal, state, and Joint Commission standards. Key duties include processing discharge charts, managing transcriptions, and coordinating chart signatures with physicians.
A high school diploma is required, while a bachelor's degree is preferred. Candidates must have at least two years of experience in Medical Records or Health Information Management.
The Health Information Management (HIM) Specialist offers support as an important member of the health information management team by ensuring the quality maintenance of patient information/medical records, within all laws, rules and regulations of federal and state licensing agencies, and Joint Commission standards for the quality of patient care.
