Responsible for all aspects of direct and indirect care during the perioperative phase of the surgical experience. This includes administering medications, operating equipment, and coordinating care plans for orthopedic patients.
Requires a nursing degree and a current Tennessee nursing license or multistate licensure. Candidates must have BLS certification, with ACLS and PALS required within six months of hire.
A registered professional nurse employed by EMC in the Erlanger COE Elective Orthopaedic Pre-Op and Recovery Department is responsible for all aspects of direct and/or indirect care of the perioperative phase of the surgical experience.
Required: Graduate from and accredited School of Nursing.

Required: Knowledge of general nursing principles and practice skills; knowledge of organizational functions, policies and regulations; knowledge of current trends and new developments; knowledge of principles and practices of nursing, applicable to those areas requiring special education. One (1) year experience.
Preferred: Previous medical surgical experience or PACU experience
The Nurse Licensure Compact will not change how to obtain or renew a Tennessee license. However, the Tennessee nursing license will be a single state license for Tennessee Residents or non-compact state residents. Tennessee licensure or multistate licensure from a compact state must be obtained within three months of hire for non-Tennessee residents.

The Registered Nurse must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age specific care appropriate to the age of the patients served in the Preoperative and PACU. The individual must demonstrate the knowledge to administer pharmacological drugs as ordered, per-form procedures and operate equipment necessary for patient care as assigned. Must possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify patient's perioperative and post operative plan of care. Individual must have the abilities to communicate effectively with staff physicians, and other departments concerning all aspects of patient care.
