Assist providers in daily clinic operations and patient care, including preparing treatment rooms and measuring vital signs. Perform diagnostic tests such as EKGs and treadmill stress tests while managing patient communications and prescriptions.
Completion of a Medical Assistant program and a High School Diploma or GED are required. Knowledge of medical terminology is necessary, and cardiac experience is preferred.
Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients Interviews patients, measures vital signs such as pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height and records information in patients’ charts. Drapes patients with covering and positions instruments and equipment Cleans and sterilizes instruments Inventories and orders medical supplies and materials Operates electrocardiograph (EKG), treadmill, and other equipment to administer routine diagnostic test or calls medical facility or department to schedule patients for tests Gives injections or treatments and performs routine laboratory tests Screens telephone calls for physicians Preps patients for Treadmill Stress Tests Performs Treadmill Stress Tests as required Returns patient phone calls Calls in patient prescriptions Answers triage calls Travel required Other related duties may be assigned Requirements: Completion of a Medical Assistant program Cardiac Experience is preferred but not required Knowledge in medical terminology About Tucson, AZ: Tucson offers stunning desert landscapes, mountain views, and over 300 days of sunshine.
