Certified medical assistant essential functions
Will be required to work within a correctional facility.
Administer medications and record daily medication to patients in state- approved facilities and completing other delegated nursing tasks allowed by state law.

Order stock medication on an as-needed basis, not to exceed established maximum inventory levels.
Reconcile daily medications received from pharmacy against faxed order form.
Distribute ordered medications to their appropriate storage area ensuring all stock medications are rotated, and all outdated medications are returned to the pharmacy.
Coordinate with different nurses to assist with patient care. Observe patients and document changes in their condition.
Notify pharmacy of incarcerated individuals transfers or release.
Seek guidance from the nurse as needed to perform tasks safely and efficiently.
Follows federal, state, and agency regulations to protect health and that of others.
Adhere to Universal Precaution procedures and established Infection Control procedures.
Gather samples for analysis.
Respond to emergency call signals, bells, or intercom systems to identify needs and report back to the nursing/HCP team for guidance.
Proficient with CPR and recognizes need to implement. Receive re-certification training annually.
Assist in cleaning, sterilizing, and securing of equipment. Ensure equipment is routinely inspected and cleaned.
Attend training and meetings as required.
Other duties as assigned.
Certified medical assistant minimum requirements
High school diploma or relevant qualification.
A minimum one (1) year experience in emergency or correctional service.
Must be a certified medical assistant and have completed a medical assistant training program.
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential through AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants) or similar recognized organization.
Good understanding of medical and pharmacological terminology.
