Perform venipuncture and skin punctures to collect patient specimens and ensure proper labeling and timely transport to the laboratory. Conduct moderate complexity ACT testing and maintain strict adherence to quality control and safety protocols.
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and completion of an approved phlebotomy program (e.g., ASCP, NHA). Preferred candidates have 1 to 3 years of phlebotomy experience and knowledge of biology or chemistry.
The Inpatient Phlebotomist demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant and the commitment to Extraordinary Care for Every Generation. � This individual has the documented training appropriate for the pre-analytical phase of patient testing and limited waived laboratory testing. The training insures the skills required for proper specimen collection, handling, processing, and transport. Training and competency are documented for limited laboratory testing, proper instrument use, and performance of preventative maintenance and quality control policies under the supervision of the Manager or Certified Medical Technologist. The Laboratory Medical Director authorizes performance of waived analytical procedures.
