The Wound Care Nurse provides expert consultation and direct care for complex wounds and ostomies to optimize patient outcomes. Responsibilities include assessing skin conditions, educating staff and patients, and ensuring adherence to clinical protocols.
Candidates must be a Registered Nurse with at least three years of clinical experience in woundostomy care and PICC line insertion. A high school diploma and BLS certification are required, while a BSN is preferred.
Observation, Documentation, Feedback. Encourages involvement of patient/family/significant other in decision making related to plan of care.
Observation, Documentation, Feedback. Independently assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the wound care of patients. Documents skin condition on progress notes and on skin assessment record.
Observation, Documentation, Feedback. Observes the wound care of other nursing team members and assumes a resource and clinical education role.
Observation, Documentation, Feedback. Gives direction to staff members related to wound care of patients/residents and specialty bed usage.
Observation, Documentation, Feedback. Identifies educational needs and conducts education classes in coordination with nursing education department as needed.
