Responsible for registering patients and collecting blood, urine, and swab specimens. Performs EKGs and processes specimens for laboratory transport while collaborating with physicians and team members.
Requires a high school diploma or GED and completion of a formal phlebotomy training program. Preference is given to candidates with a phlebotomy certification and at least one year of experience in a fast-paced environment.
Accurately registers patients with appropriate demographic information, determines orders needed, collects all required specimens to include, blood, urine, or swabs, prioritizes workflow with appropriate sense of urgency, performs EKGs, processes specimens for courier transport to the laboratory, communicates effectively with referring physicians, collaborates with team members and leadership, assists in training new team members, performs clerical and miscellaneous duties as needed.
