The Certified Medical Assistant supports physicians by managing patient intake, documenting vitals, and assisting with clinical procedures in an orthopedic setting. They are also responsible for maintaining exam room readiness and coordinating patient flow to ensure efficient office operations.
Candidates must hold a current CMA or CCMA certification and possess a strong understanding of medical terminology and EHR systems. Previous experience in an orthopedic or physician practice is preferred.
The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) is responsible for supporting physicians and advanced practice providers in delivering high-quality patient care within a fast-paced orthopedic practice environment. This role assists with patient intake, rooming, clinical documentation, basic procedures, and overall patient flow to ensure an efficient and positive patient experience. The CMA works closely with providers, clinical staff, and patients to prepare patients for examination and treatment while maintaining accurate medical records and supporting daily clinical operations. Prepare patients for examination by obtaining and documenting vital signs, medical history, medications, and chief complaints in the EHR system. Room patients efficiently and assist providers with patient flow throughout the day. Support physicians and physician assistants during examinations, procedures, injections, casting preparation, suture removal, and other clinical activities. Accurately document patient information, provider instructions, and clinical updates within the electronic medical record system. Assist with medication refill requests, prior authorizations, and pre-certification processes as directed by providers. Educate patients on treatment instructions, durable medical equipment (DME), post-visit care, and follow-up information. Maintain exam rooms, clinical workspaces, and medical equipment to ensure cleanliness, organization, and readiness for patient care. Stock and monitor medical and office supplies, including bandages, casting materials, syringes, needles, and patient education materials. Support coordination of imaging, referrals, and hospital-related documentation when needed. Follow OSHA, HIPAA, infection control, and safety guidelines to maintain a compliant clinical environment. Assist with scanning, filing, and other administrative or clinical support duties as assigned. Support office opening and closing responsibilities as needed. Promote a professional, compassionate, and patient-focused environment at all times. Required Qualifications: Current Certified Medical Assistant (CMA or CCMA) certification required. Previous experience in a physician practice or orthopedic setting preferred. Working knowledge of medical terminology, clinical procedures, and EHR systems. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Knowledge of OSHA, HIPAA, and infection control standards. License/Certification: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA or CCMA) certification required.
