Candidates must have previous medical office experience and proficiency with computer software and email. Strong communication skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment are required, while ophthalmology experience is preferred.
Paul Phillips Eye & Surgery Center is a physician-owned multi-specialty ophthalmic practice that offers comprehensive eyecare services in surgical and medical retina, cataract and refractive surgery, uveitis, glaucoma, oculoplastic, contact lens fitting and supply, and full service optical. The main location is in Flemington, NJ with two satellite offices in Bridgewater, NJ and Clinton, NJ. Who You Are The Surgical Coordinator is responsible for all tasks related to the scheduling and coordination of ophthalmic surgery. The individual will schedule surgical cases, while also serving as a point of contact for patients, surgeons, surgery centers, and other office staff. Must be willing to travel to all three offices. What You'll Do Schedule and prepare patient charts for pre-op measurement visits. Perform surgical counseling with patients to review pre-operative instructions, confirm patient understanding of surgery to be performed, discuss intraocular lens options and pricing, and obtain signatures on consent forms. Work in conjunction with clinical staff and surgeons to ensure all pre-operative measurements and paperwork are completed accurately and timely. Coordinate and confirm scheduled surgeries. Upload all scheduling paperwork into the surgical center system. Ensure all medical clearances and pre-operative testing paperwork is complete and timely. Assist ophthalmic technicians by performing pre-operative testing for surgical patients. Ensure proper billing procedure and diagnostic codes for surgical cases and provide documentation to the billing coordinator. What You Bring Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with medical terminology and procedures. Excellent communication skills to calmly and concisely communicate with patients, physicians, and co-workers. Attention to detail and excellent proofreading skills. Professionalism, positivity, and strong interpersonal skills. Excellent time-management skills with ability to prioritize time sensitive tasks. Key Competencies Ophthalmology experience. Medical office experience required. Computer proficiency with email, word processing, document files, and uploading information into various software systems.
Salary Range: $20-$24/hour, depending on experience
