Perform routine ophthalmic tasks including visual field testing, refractions, and pupil evaluations. Assist and scribe for physicians during patient examinations to ensure efficient clinic operations.
Requires a high school diploma and preferably a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) certification. Experience in an ophthalmology clinic and BLS/CPR certification are preferred.
The Certified Ophthalmic Assistant/Technician (COA/T) performs various routine tasks and works effectively with other technicians and clinic personnel to provide efficient and effective services for the patients and physicians. The COA/T works daily with refractions, ascan, visual acuity, color testing, pupil evaluations, visual field testing, and dilation drops. The COA/T must have a clear understanding of ophthalmology terminology and have technical use of all instruments and equipment. The COA/T must also be able to make clear judgments regarding patient care and are required to assist and scribe the physician on all patients as needed. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or equivalent, required Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (C.O.A.) certification or higher, preferred Experience in ophthalmology setting/clinic, preferred BLS/CPR certification, preferred WORK SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 5:00PM
