Provides direct patient care and support to nursing staff within the Labor and Delivery unit. Responsibilities include performing vital signs, assisting with patient hygiene, and maintaining accurate electronic medical records.
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a current Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) certification. Previous CNA experience and basic computer skills are preferred.

1. Stocks patient rooms, unit carts, drawers, and storage rooms. 2. Communicates appropriately and clearly to Charge Nurse, nursing staff, and providers. 3. Communicates with other departments, as appropriate, to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs. 4. Assists RNs and LPNs with patient care activities such as bathing, feeding, walking, changing positions, oral hygiene, newborn screenings/procedure, or other tasks requested. 5. Assist RNs and LPNs with patient room turnover. 6. Assists Labor or Postpartum Supervisor, Labor or Postpartum Educator, or Labor and Delivery Manager as requested. 7. Knowledge of medical terminology. 8. Written and computer documentation meet current standards and policies. Documents in electronic medical record (EMR) accurately. 9. Able to perform vital signs on patients. 10. Emptying drains and foley bags and reporting results to assigned nurse. Keeps accurate intake and output.
