Histotechnician - Dermatology

• A Brief Overview The Histotechnician prepares tissue specimens for surgical pathology examination.
• This includes evaluating the acceptability of the specimens, properly embedding the processed tissue, cutting/sectioning the specimens, and staining the slides using automated or manual methods.
• What You Will Do Performs embedding and cutting on both biopsies and large surgical specimens, while consistently meeting quality and productivity standards.
• Follows lab policies and procedures to perform moderate complexity testing Maintains and demonstrates competency assessment in all assigned areas to accurately and efficiently perform pre-analytical, analytical and post analytical processes for laboratory testing.
• Maintains, troubleshoots, and documents laboratory equipment failures.
• Completes all assigned mandatory assignments within allowed timelines.
• Demonstrates clear communication with team members to optimize laboratory operations.
• Actively participates in departmental projects; contributes positively to department environment/initiatives.
• Contributes to a positive work environment.
• Takes responsibility for self-development.
