Responsible for handling surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment while maintaining strict sterile techniques during invasive procedures. Duties include preoperative patient preparation, intraoperative assistance to the surgical team, and postoperative suite cleanup.
Requires a High School Diploma and graduation from an accredited Surgical Technology Training Program. Level II candidates must be certified by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting with at least 3 years of acute care OR experience.

Surgical Technologist I/II - Full Time
Under close supervision, the Surgical Technologist I is responsible for the handling of required surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment while maintaining sterile technique for all surgical or invasive procedures (to cover ST in adjunct positions such as Anes. Tech, Endoscopy, OB/GYN).
Under general supervision, the Surgical Technologist II is responsible for the handling of required surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment while maintaining sterile technique for all surgical or invasive procedures.
The Surgical Technologist I is an entry level professional. The Surgical Technologist II is experienced certified professional who can work quickly and efficiently in a fast paced surgical environment. Incumbents are expected to maintain a strong understanding of the procedure being performed and consistently anticipate the needs of the Surgical Team.
Dependent upon assignment, applicants may be required to pass an extensive background investigation, and be fingerprinted. Disqualification for felony, misdemeanor, and traffic offenses will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

As Disaster Service Workers, all county employees are expected to remain at work, or to report for work as soon as practicable following a significant emergency or disaster.
If position responsibilities require driving a personal vehicle, then possession of a current valid California Driver’s License and adherence to the Kern County Hospital Authority Vehicle Use and Driving Standard Policy (ENG-EC-119) is required.
If position responsibilities require driving a vehicle owned, leased or rented by Kern Medical, then possession of a current valid California Driver’s license, a signed authorization for Release of Drivers Record Information and adherence to the Kern County Hospital Authority Vehicle Use and Driving Standard Policy (ENG-EC-119) is required.
