Job description

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of a Supervisor or Coordinator, serves as a professional performing a wide range of direct and indirect mental health and substance abuse services within a multi-disciplinary, crisis-oriented team to provide immediate crisis intervention services to consumers with a chronic mental illness and possibly developmental disability and/or co-occurring substance abuse issues. Coordinates services being provided to consumers with CMHA-CEI and links consumers to necessary community resources. Recommends referrals to various programs, program components and other services in the community. May provide case management; facilitation of a brief crisis intervention plan; outreach to consumers with multiple needs; and mental health services in a short-term crisis intervention program. Responsible for detailed case documentation. Responsible for carrying out all activities of the program/sub-unit in such a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies and procedures.

Requirements

Possession of a bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology, or related field is required. A minimum of one year of professional experience specific to the area of assignment is required. On a case-by-case basis, may assess and consider an applicant with two years of paraprofessional work experience with the assigned population. Must be able to perform Handle with Care Behavior Management techniques according to approved Agency standards. Must be able to communicate accurately and effectively in verbal and in written form. Must have the ability to operate a computer. May be required to have a valid Michigan driver's license. Must have access to reliable means of transportation for job-related use. Other requirements, if needed, will depend upon area of assignment and program need.

Conditional Employment Requirements

Employment offers for this position will be contingent upon the results of a background verification and credentialing procedure consisting of: Michigan State Police clearance check, Medicaid/Medicare verification, verification of an acceptable driving record, educational background check, and verification of an acceptable work history. Must be able to pass pre-employment drug screen.

Salary/Hours

  • $51,501.35-$58,557.85 annually; $24.76-$28.15 per hour.
  • Three 12-hour shifts (7am-7:30pm) with an 8 hour shift every other week.
