The Phlebotomist is responsible for collecting and handling various patient samples, including blood, nasal, and throat swabs, with high accuracy. They must verify patient identities and ensure proper labeling and tube usage according to Medicare and test guidelines.
A high school diploma or GED is required, while phlebotomy certification and patient care experience are preferred. Candidates should possess strong organizational and communication skills to work in a fast-paced environment.
Maintain accuracy in all work; Complete tasks on time and per any deadlines, label specimens with a high degree of accuracy, ensure proper tubes are used for each blood test ordered Verify the identity of every patient before collecting any samples Proper identification and sample collection at all times Be aware of Medicare guidelines, send-out test requirements, and special tests; Explain Medicare ABNs to patients clearly and accurately Perform venipuncture and finger/heel stick procedures with a high degree of professionalism and concern for the patient, including a minimum of 2 sticks per encounter Collect nasal swabs, throat swabs, and blood cultures when needed
Qualifications: High school diploma or GED Experience preferred; but not required
