Uses cognitive sonographer skills to identify, record, and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images.
Analyzes ultrasounds, synthesizes sonography information and medical history, and communicates findings to the appropriate physician.
Practices sound safety and infection control practices according to agency policies and procedures; identifies safety and infection control issues.
Performs quality control on appropriate systems and equipment.
Provides a safe environment for all patients, assuring proper patient positioning and patient care throughout the patient stay.
Promotes quality care by redefining priorities for care based on evaluation of patient/family response or changing condition.
Essential Functions: Perform transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE’s) (75%) Perform transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE’s) (10%) Perform exercise or dobutamine stress echocardiograms (ESE/DSE) (10%) Perform emergent echos or scheduled procedures (Invasive lab echos or Watchman/PFO procedures) (5%) Education: Completion of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography program required.
Work Experience: 1-3 years direct patient care preferred as a cardiac sonographer in a hospital setting.
Licenses
BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association or American Red Cross required. RCS - Registered Cardiac Sonographer - CCI - Cardiovascular Credentialing International required,
OR - RDCS - Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer - ARDMS - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography required
