The Rehab Aide is responsible for transporting patients and providing direct care support under clinician supervision. Key tasks include maintaining treatment areas, managing supplies, and assisting with therapeutic exercises.
Candidates must be high school graduates with a valid CPR certification from the AHA or Red Cross. Experience in clinical settings or working with individuals with developmental disabilities is preferred.
10 hours per week. The Rehabilitation Aide/Transporter will transfer and transport patients and provide patient care under direct supervision of a clinician within the policies and procedures of both the Institute and the departmental program, and in accordance with laws and regulations of the state of Maryland. This position will assist clinical staff in the provision of patient care programs and perform supportive tasks, including those serving the administrative, maintenance, and operational needs of the program.
Prepare, maintain, and clean patient treatment areas before & after treatment sessions. Adhere to Kennedy Krieger Institute policies regarding patient & staff safety, hygiene, patient privacy, and patient-specific and standard precautions. Assist in the practice of therapeutic exercise & functional activities programs under direct supervision of a Speech-Language Pathologist per Maryland state law. Greet, transport, and assist patients with hygiene and/or dressing needs. Remind and clarify appointment schedules for patients in conjunction with clinicians’ treatment plans and care center scheduling. Provide general program overview and conduct tours of the clinic for new patients and families. Maintain program supplies, including ordering, inventory control, labeling and storing supplies. Participate in maintenance, organization, care, cleaning, transport, tracking, scheduling and safe storage of equipment. Identify and correct/report quality control problems, such as removal and coordination of repair of broken equipment, or environmental hazards. Actively participate in meetings and committees including execution of tasks related to preparing for regulatory review and performance improvement projects. Attend staff and supervisory meetings and training sessions.
Must possess and maintain cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross. EDUCATION: High School Graduate, GED, or equivalent required. Associate’s degree preferred. Enrollment in health occupation curriculum, certification, or academic program is preferred. EXPERIENCE: Previous experience working or volunteering in a hospital or clinical setting preferred. Experience working with or treating children or adults with developmental or acquired disabilities is preferred. Minimum pay range USD $15.00/Hr. Maximum pay range USD $23.00/Hr.
