The RRT is responsible for direct patient assessment, administering respiratory therapies, and managing invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation. They also provide airway management and resuscitation in the Family Birth Center and perform arterial blood gas analysis.
Candidates must be graduates of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program and hold a Registered Respiratory Therapist certification. Current licensure by the State of Idaho Board of Medicine and certifications in BLS, ACLS, NRP, and PALS are required.
The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) is a licensed professional accountable for direct and indirect patient assessment, patient care, and monitoring outcomes of care. The RRT will demonstrate safe and competent care to give appropriate therapy and will assess the effectiveness of therapy. These include, but are not limited to: therapeutic gas administration, aerosol and humidity therapy, lung clearance therapy, medication administration, rehabilitation, pulmonary function testing, invasive and non-invasive mechanical ventilation, blood gas analysis, and patient education.
Minimum Education Graduate of A.M.A. approved, J.R.C.R.T.E. accredited school of Respiratory Therapy or Respiratory Care Program. Successful completion of the National Board of Respiratory Care's test for Registered Respiratory Therapist.
Required Licenses [Idaho, United States] Respiratory Therapist Current licensure by the State of Idaho Board of Medicine as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.

Population Served Neonatal , pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric.
Perform Respiratory Therapy treatments.
Perform ventilator management.
Perform Arterial Blood gas draws and analysis.
Attend deliveries in Family Birth Center and provide air way management and resuscitation when necessary.
Perform CPR.
Clean equipment and perform appropriate check off.
Intubation Practice Perform 2 monthly intubations on adult and neonatal manikin head Perform 1 proctored intubation quarterly
