The LVN provides nursing care to OBGYN and high-risk OB patients, focusing on clinic flow and a patient-centered environment. Responsibilities include administering medications, assisting with procedures, and performing basic patient assessments.
Requires a current California LVN license, BLS certification, and 1-3 years of experience in an ambulatory environment. Experience in a fast-paced OBGYN setting and proficiency in injections and lab draws are required.

Under the Direction of the Nurse Manager and guided by the policies and procedures of Ambulatory Services, the Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), provides care to OBGYN patients and uncomplicated and high-risk OB patients at both the Obstetrics Services and Perinatal Medicine Specialties practice, and GYN Surgical Specialties, UCSF Department of Women’s Health. The LVN will play a critical role in the patient experience including optimizing clinic flow, providing in and outreach to patients and working collaboratively with the team to create a patient centered environment.
The Licensed Vocational Nurse has excellent oral and written communication skills; can work well with minimal supervision in a complex, fast pace and challenging environment. S/he is sensitive to the needs of patients, staff, and providers at all times. This position makes a difference for patients in an outpatient care unit by providing excellent nursing care and customer service, facilitating and ensuring the accuracy of the information flow between medical, hospital staff and departments to maximize unit efficiency. S/he consistently projects a professional and courteous demeanor and as well as demonstrating UCSF’s PRIDE values and the AIDET fundamentals of communication in all patient care and stakeholder interactions.
The LVN will utilize computer skills in ApeX and other UCSF computerized programs. This individual supports the standards of the policies and procedures of the practice, and is responsible for maintaining current knowledge of pharmacology and competency in modes of administration, and complies with all Ambulatory Services and Medical Center policies and procedures for infection control, safety, and administrative and clinical practice. S/he is required to adhere to the Telephone and House Standards as adopted by the Medical Center. This job requires the flexibility to work at any UCSF location.
