Cardiology Services | ChristianaCare The Administrative Assistant II will provide comprehensive care coordination and support to physicians and advance practice clinicians as part of a large cardiology practice, to meet the cardiac needs of patients in a timely and accurate manner.
The administrative assistant will perform high-level clinical and administrative tasks which will include triage patient cardiac clinical calls working closely with the RN triage team.

Responsibilities; Triage high volume of incoming patient calls using triage logic, escalating to provider or RN when appropriate.
Manage patient test results, i.e. lab work, cardiac imaging, cardiogenetic, cardiac monitor, using clinical care guidelines in place, to include communication of those results to patients in a timely manner.
Propose testing orders per practice protocol (MAs only).
Collaborate with physicians and surgical practice to coordinate cardiac risk assessments and preoperative testing.
Completion of Disability and FMLA paperwork using clinical guidelines established with providers.
Complets medication prior authorizations to include specialty drugs, following up with appeals process, if necessary.
Care coordination of cardiac diagnostic tests, registration of cardiac monitors, outpatient procedures (when applicable).
Coordinate communication between all levels of the health care team effectively, utilizing both written and verbal communication skills.
Provide complete and legible messages, documenting cardiac clinical calls in Cerner Ambulatory.
Flexibility to cover other Communicator positions, if necessary.
Performs other related duties as required.
Position Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required.
5 years medical assistant experience OR 5+ years’ experience in a direct patient care setting required.
