Job description

About the Role

  • The Medical Assistant plays a critical role in supporting healthcare providers by ensuring the smooth operation of clinical and administrative tasks within a medical facility.
  • This position involves direct patient interaction, including preparing patients for examinations, taking vital signs, and assisting with medical procedures such as phlebotomy and specimen collection.
  • The Medical Assistant is responsible for maintaining a clean and sterile environment by properly sterilizing medical instruments and managing specimen processing accurately.
  • By collaborating closely with Nurse Practitioners and other healthcare professionals, the Medical Assistant helps deliver high-quality patient care and enhances overall clinical efficiency.
  • Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to patient satisfaction and the effective delivery of healthcare services.
  • As well manages Referrals to process of directing patients to the correct health care specialist, services or community resources.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited program.
  • Proven experience in phlebotomy and specimen processing.
  • Knowledge of medical instruments and sterilization techniques.
  • Ability to accurately measure and record vital signs.
  • Strong understanding of clinical procedures and patient care protocols.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working alongside Nurse Practitioners/ MD's or in a similar clinical setting.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Additional certification in phlebotomy or specialized medical assisting skills.
  • Basic life support (BLS) or CPR certification.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Certified Medical Assistant.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examination by taking vital signs and recording medical histories.
  • Assist healthcare providers, including Nurse Practitioners/Physicians, during medical examinations and procedures.
  • Perform phlebotomy and draw blood samples following proper protocols and safety standards.
