Perform routine diagnostic CT imaging studies and special procedures while ensuring high image quality and patient safety. Coordinate with medical staff to provide accurate patient positioning and maintain a safe, hazard-free working environment.
Requires a high school diploma and graduation from a JRC/CAHEA approved Radiologic Technology program. Must be ARRT (R) (CT) registered or eligible, BLS certified, and have at least one year of experience in general radiography.
High school graduate or GED and a graduate of a JRC/CAHEA approved program in Radiologic Technology.
The CT technologist must be registered or registry eligible with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist.
BLS Minimum Work Experience One year recent experience in General Radiography. One or more years CT experience preferred. Essential Functions 1. Insures that patient examinations are performed in an accurate and timely manner; not to exceed 30 minutes. Provides accurate patient positioning, computer entries and filming. 2. Performs nuclear medicine scans according to established protocols. Administers radiopharmaceuticals to patient according to the radiologist prescribed protocols. 3. Maintains an effective use of time, reports availability accordingly. Demonstrates a willingness and ability to assist others. Consistently displays team effort. 4. Applies knowledge to produce high quality diagnostic scan images with use of professional knowledge to meet or exceed department guidelines. Maintains exam accuracy, i.e., minimum views, labeling, patient dose, positioning, patient history and shielding. Minimizes patient exposure. 5. Maintains knowledge of equipment performance. Reports malfunctions to supervisor. Conveys to supervisor any problems related to supplies or equipment as well as information pertaining to the problem. 6. Demonstrates the ability to resolve problems. Demonstrates the ability to catch on or understand instructions and underlying principles. Ability to reason and make sound judgments 7. Demonstrates technical knowledge. Demonstrates the ability to provide patient education relating to diagnostic nuclear medicine procedures. 8. Learns and maintains knowledge of current imaging techniques. Identifies methods to improve diagnostic quality. Identifies methods to improve efficiency and customer relations. 9. Accepts and initiates new tasks willingly. 10. Maintains a safe working environment. Maintains a professional environment, cleanliness, attire and positive pleasant attitude. 11. Utilizes appropriate lines of communication. 12. Maintains a good working relationship with nursing staff, referring physicians and department. 13. Complies with hospital and imaging policy/procedures 100% of the time. Personnel file has no instances of personal counseling or corrective action for the evaluation year. 14. Follows Infection Control Policies and Procedures—both hospital-wide and department specific. 15. Assumes responsibility for following compliance guidelines with federal, state and local regulations within the department. 16. Performs duties reasonably assigned by the supervisor which may not be included in this document. Follows the oral and written directions given by supervisor(s) of the department. 17. Follows Safety and Security policies and procedures, reporting violations as observed, through the channels defined by policy, making corrective action immediately on life-safety issues. 18. Participates in the management and utilization of resources, including but not limited to, personnel and supplies. 19. Accepts and strives to learn new tasks and routines. Takes responsibility for maintaining accountability for improving job knowledge and skills. 20. Shows active participation in the Performance Improvement initiatives for Department/Hospital/System, participating on Teams as appropriate.
