Job Summary
Schedule, notify patient and track results of any diagnostic tests/referrals ordered by Providers. Obtain pre-authorizations as required by insurance company. Ensure appropriate network for referrals.
Job Responsibilities
- Review patient's insurance to determine appropriate facility and verify benefits.
- Schedule test at appropriate facility based on insurance requirements.
- Notify patient of appointment date, time and facility and any known out-of-pocket expenses.
- Mail letter (certified and regular mail) to any patient you are unable to contact to schedule.
- Work In-Basket, WQ's and Tracking Logs daily.
- Work appropriate WQ's and document all pertinent information in the notes field of the referral tab.
- Place patient and test on manual tracking log/referral log.
- Fax orders to external facility, if Indicated.
- Track for results after date of test.
- Ensure test results are forwarded to the ordering Provider.
- [file:///C:/Users/165872/AppData/Local/Temp/msohtmlclip1/01/clip_image003.jpg]If preliminary results are received, a paper copy is to be taken to the Provider for a preliminary interpretation thbn scan to the order. You must flag the chart and manual log until you have obtained the final report. The final report/consultation should be routed to the Provider via inbasket (internal) and scanned if it is an external report. Review Provider interpretation for additional tests and place any orders necessary. Update WQ's as appropriate.
- Notify patient of results. If unable to reach patient, mail appropriate letters (certified or regular mail) to patient's home address. All abnormal test results require certified letters.
- Once the patient has been notified of the results, clear from WQ and highlight on the Tracking Log.
- Print and review the Daily Procedure Report every day to ensure no tests are missed.
- Schedule follow-up appointment with Provider, if necessary.

Minimum Required Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Minimum Required Special Skills
Strong communication and organization skills are necessary.
Minimum Required Training
Medical terminology and some knowledge of CPT/ICD-IO coding is required.
