Registered Nurse (PD)

AQUA Plastic Surgery, an AQUA Dermatology portfolio practice, is Florida’s largest and most comprehensive full-service skin care provider in the Southeast, offering medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology, plastic surgery, vein care, and radiation oncology.

Aqua Plastic Surgery is seeking a per-diem Registered Nurse to assist with Cosmetic and Plastic surgery procedures. The ideal candidate is a positive, energetic, intelligent, highly dependable, well-organized clinical professional, that has the ability to multi-task while learning to use new tools and procedures, ensuring excellent service standards and maintain high customer satisfaction.

Essential Functions

• Adheres to the Aqua Plastics Mission Statement, Credo and Service Goals and Values providing exceptional customer service at all times.
• Arrives on time and sets up exam/procedure/cosmetic rooms, prepares solutions, empties sterilized packs from autoclave and distributes instruments to proper rooms.
• Shows patients to exam rooms; obtains and documents on EMR accurate patient history including skin history and general medical history, current medications, and identifies purpose of patients visit that day
• Assists with surgical procedures, and turns over room to prepare for next patient visit.
• Label specimen containers properly, takes photos of biopsy/surgical sites, prepares and sends specimens to lab based on patient's insurance, carries out wound care and educates patients on wound care instructions/informs patients to expect rx results within 2 weeks
• Aids in cleaning/sterilizing instruments, checking expiration dates of supplies and medications; discards trash and biohazard containers/bags
• Maintains clean, fully stocked, organized and up to date rooms upon arrival and prior to leaving work.
• Performs triage- i.e. Rx refills, prior authorizations, post op calls, Rx side effects, prepping for next day procedures/appointments
• Provides patients with post op instructions, teaching and education on skin care, wound care and prescription information
• Sends in prescriptions to pharmacies as directed by the physician
• Uses appropriate software to record medical records for use in treatment, patient and insurance billing
• Assist providers during exam visits (“scribe”) including accurately documenting in the medical record, the various anatomic locations and activities as the provider is examining and treating, cosmetic procedures, minor surgical procedures, (including maintaining a sterile environment, apply/administer local anesthesia, remove sutures/staples, change bandages, perform photodynamic therapy per authorization, input, finalizing and annotating biopsies and treatments in path log
• Assists in Plastic Surgical procedures
• Works in a team environment, maintaining professional relationships with patients, providers, supervisors and administrators

• Required Education and Experience
• Registered Nurse license
• 2 years of plastics experience in physician's office with recent proven technical and clinical skills
• Experience assisting in a surgical setting
• Must be able to work well independently but ask for help when needed
• Must have the ability to use applicable technology and systems
• Must be flexible and able to change to adapt to new policies and procedures
