$46,947.00 - $65,726.00 Anesthesia Technicians attend to the practical details of preparing and maintaining anesthesia supplies and equipment, freeing the anesthesia care team to focus on the patient. Anesthesia Technicians perform duties under the direct supervision of a Licensed Anesthesia Provider and/or Registered Nurse (RN). The Anesthesia Technician adheres to AMC policies, standards and practice as well as departmental policy for the Anesthesia Department and assists with Anesthesia Delivery Systems; Equipment, Instrumentation, and Technology; Room turnover; Blood Salvage; and Infection Control.
Maintains inventory of machines/carts related to provision of anesthesia (including drug labels).
Differentiates the capabilities, limitations, and special applications of anesthesia machines/carts.
Anticipates the needs of Providers based on location (OR vs. Non-Operating Room Anesthesia).
Identifies power supplies, circuit breakers, and medical gas connectors for each machine.
Maintains the stock of pyxis machines and drug boxes.
Complies with Environmental Health and Safety policy regarding spilled anesthetic agents.
Completes the process for oxygen tank replacement.
Utilizes knowledge of biotechnology and monitoring to prepare medical equipment and supplies based on patient need.
Identifies missing instrument/equipment and works with team to locate and retrieve missing items.
Assembles invasive as well as non-invasive monitoring equipment.
Prepares scopes and probes specific to patient care procedures (bronchoscopes, TEE probes, etc.).
Performs troubleshooting and emergency procedures in the event of equipment failure.
Applies care and cleaning techniques specific to critical (sterile) vs. semi-critical (clean) items, utilizing
manufacturer’s instructions for use (IFUs).
Collaborates with nursing staff on case/room turnover.
Performs routine room setup for each new case, ensuring availability and function of equipment/supplies

Minimum Qualifications
High School Graduate or equivalent plus at least 2 years applicable experience, or Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree with 1-year applicable experience or combination of some college and 1-year experience Working knowledge of computer-based application and strong PC/keyboard skills. Strong attention to detail and demonstrated ability to use sound judgment in decision making. Excellent organizational skills with demonstrated time management skills. Ability to handle high workload volume. Excellent customer service skills and ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal.
