More about our team We provide lab services for a 25-bed facility, Level IV Trauma, Stroke & Chest Pain Accredited as well as a large outpatient service area.
How you’ll contribute A Lab Assistant who excels in this role
- Performs department specific waived and moderately complex testing under the direct supervision of a General Supervisor.
- Applies technical knowledge and skills necessary to maintain procedural quality standards.
- Orders, process, test, issue, deliver, and discard products under the supervision of a General Supervisor.
- Responsible for the performance of routine computer operations including, but not limited to ordering laboratory tests, data input, and specimen receipt.
- Accurately identifies and labels specimens.
- Performs preventative maintenance, equipment maintenance, and daily temperature checks according to the section's procedural manual.
- Draws venous and capillary samples from patients according to phlebotomy procedures and age specific needs of the patient.
- Works closely with laboratory and supervisory personnel.
- Frequent communication with nurses, physicians, and other personnel.
- Follows safety guidelines and procedures.
- Reports unsafe practices or conditions to the manager.
- Maintains effective and efficient use of reagents, chemicals, and supplies while assuring adequate inventory in all daily work areas.
- Maintains appropriate commitment to the department schedule in terms of attendance and hours of work.
- Rotates section shifts and with adequate training, rotates between sections as needed.

- What we’re looking for Applicants must possess a Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, or biological science. Additional requirements include:
- BLS/CPR within six months of hire.
