Perform phlebotomy, blood specimen collection, and EKG procedures while ensuring compliance with federal regulatory guidelines. Handle specimen processing, order entry, and provide high-quality customer service to patients and physicians.
Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and completion of an accredited phlebotomy course or program. AHA CPR Certification is required, and certification from bodies such as ASCP or AMT is preferred.
Under the leadership of the Director of Laboratory Services and Laboratory Supervisors, the Clinical Lab Associate performs blood specimen collection within compliance of Federal Regulatory Guidelines and demonstrates necessary skills and knowledge through competencies for specific skills; all appropriate to the age of patients. When full competency at level 1 has been achieved, the person may be elevated to CLA level 2. The Lab Service Center is available for urgent or standard result times. We can analyze specimens at the cellular, chemical, endocrinological or immunologic levels.
In this role, we anticipate that you will generally work approximately 8-16 hours per week. We anticipate that you will generally be scheduled to work an 8-hour day shift, and will not be scheduled for on-call shifts. We anticipate you will be scheduled to work primarily at the Ingalls campus. The days of the week that you are scheduled will vary depending on the week, but we anticipate that you will not be scheduled to work on weekends (Saturday and/or Sunday).

UChicago Medicine is committed to transparency in compensation and benefits. The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position.
The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
