Requires at least six months of experience in a medical, psychiatric, nursing, childcare, or correctional setting. Candidates must be at least 18 years old, and a CNA license or relevant college training can substitute for experience.

Within DCF, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health (SAMH) Program office is recognized as the single state authority for substance abuse and mental health services. The Office of SAMH is statutorily responsible for the planning, evaluation, and implementation of a comprehensive statewide system of care for the prevention, treatment, and recovery of children and adults with serious mental illnesses or substance use disorders. Florida State Hospital (FSH) is a mental health treatment facility owned and operated by the State of Florida and is part of the Department of Children and Families. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: required for the position:
Must be 18 years of age at time of hire.
Six months of experience working in a medical, psychiatric, nursing or childcare setting, or in working with developmentally disabled persons; or in working in a correctional facility.
College or vocational/technical training from an accredited institution can substitute at the rate of 15 semester, 22 quarter or 360 classroom hours for the required experience. Current State of Florida Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) license can substitute for the required experience.
Preference will be given to applicants who have: High School Diploma or General Education Development Diploma (GED)
