The nurse is responsible for assessing and managing laboring women and fetal well-being through delivery and recovery. Duties include neonatal stabilization, circulating for cesarean sections, and providing patient and family education.
Candidates must be a Licensed Registered Nurse in Texas with BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Fetal Monitoring certifications. A Bachelor of Nursing degree and prior Labor and Delivery experience are preferred.
Accountable for the observation, assessment, intervention, evaluation, rehabilitation, or health teachings of a person who is ill, injured, infirm, or experiencing a change in normal health processes; the maintenance of health or prevention of illness; the administration of a medication or treatment as ordered by a physician, the supervision or teaching of nursing; the administration, supervision, and evaluation of nursing practices, policies, and procedures; the performance of an act delegated by a physician and the development of the nursing care plan. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assesses and manages laboring woman's physical condition/parameters and progress through the labor and delivery, including significant other in the process. Assesses fetal well-being by means of electronic fetal monitoring and other standard parameters. Immediate stabilization of the neonate. Maternal recovery after delivery (vaginal or cesarean section). Assumes circulating role for vaginal or cesarean section delivery. Initiates parent infant bonding promoting a baby-friendly environment. Assesses learning needs and teaches patient and family. Job Details: Full time day shift, 6:30a-7p.
