The Mammography Technologist I operates mammographic equipment to obtain high-quality breast images and is integral to providing an exceptional patient care experience. Essential duties include positioning patients, evaluating image quality, explaining procedures, and maintaining exam room readiness.
Candidates must be a graduate of a 24-month AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology with ARRT certification in radiography, and must obtain advanced ARRT certification in mammography within one year of hire. Preferred experience includes 1-3 years in Mammography, along with computer literacy and excellent communication skills.
The Mammography Technologist I performs technical activities associated with screening mammography procedures to obtain high quality images of the breasts and serves as an integral part of providing an exceptional patient care experience. Shift Details: M-F Day shift availability a must! Essential
Operate mammographic and other imaging equipment/devices in accordance with organizational protocols Position patients, using immobilization when necessary Evaluate radiographs for image quality, adjusting position, density, or contrast and obtaining additional images as needed Explain screening procedures to patients Prepare exam rooms and equipment for studies, ensuring cleanliness and adequate stock/inventory of clinical supplies Obtain, verify, and document all pertinent information for patient visits, including patient clinical history and prior imaging Identify care requirements relative to each patient’s age-specific needs Use radiation safety measures and protective devices to comply with government regulations and ensure the safety of patients and staff Assist with onboarding and training new Mammography Technician I’s Other duties as assigned
Education/Licensing/Certification: Graduate of a 24-month AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology ARRT certification in radiography ARRT advanced certification in mammography must be obtained within 1 year of hire BLS CPR certification Experience (years and type): 1-3 years of Mammography experience preferred Diagnostic Mammography Training experience a plus Knowledge and Skills: Computer literate Ability to read and interpret medical reports Anatomic knowledge of breast tissue pattern and related structures as well as breast pathology and treatment of breast pathology Knowledge of radiographic technique and positioning Excellent communication skills Excellent customer service, both internal and external Excellent time management and organizational skills Travel Required (% of time): 0-25% Physical Requirements & Work Environment: Primarily walking and standing Lift up to 25lbs Role may be exposed to radiation, infectious disease, and bloodborne pathogens Floating coverage, overtime, and work outside of normal M-F business hours as needed Charlotte Radiology offers competitive base salary and comprehensive health and welfare benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, Flexible Spending Accounts, PTO, Telehealth, Disability, Employee Assistance Program, and 401k Retirement Savings.
