The technologist independently performs diagnostic quality MRI procedures on patients of all ages, ensuring proper techniques and evaluating image quality according to established protocols. Key duties include obtaining clinical history, administering contrast media safely, implementing MRI safety measures, and coordinating patient flow and care.
A minimum requirement is an Associate degree in Allied Health, specifically Medical Imaging Sciences, which must include MRI physics coursework or completion within six months of hire. Required credentials include CPR Certification, and either ARRT RT (R) registry or ARMRIT, while one year of MRI experience is preferred.
MRI Tech - Hosp-WP I
MRI Shift: Sat-Sun, 7a-7:30p Facility: AMC Independently performs magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) utilizing proper techniques and administration of contrast media. Works under their scope of practice and in accordance with certificate/licensure in the administration of medications, operation of equipment, and venipuncture. Coordinates patient flow and the activities of the MRI scanner including MRI safe practices. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of his/her duties in order to maintain equipment in good working condition. May perform procedures in other imaging modalities based on departmental needs. May have on call responsibilities. Essential Duties & Functions: 1. Performs MRI procedures of diagnostic quality as ordered by the referring physician and/or radiologist on patients of all ages according to established protocols and evaluates MRI studies for technical image quality. 2. Obtains clinical history and data for correlation with the MRI procedure. 3. Implements screening and safety measures in accordance with prescribed MRI safety standards. Performs daily and weekly QC as required. 4. Prepares and administers contrast media to the patient according to policy. Practices sterile techniques. 5. Assists Radiologist in special procedures and in performing medical treatment during emergency situations. 6. Coordinates patient care with other areas in order to optimize patient time and satisfaction. 7. Assesses learning needs and educates patients/families regarding procedures based on individual needs. Thoroughly educates patients about exam. 8. Ensures that all records, files and reports are properly recorded as required, performs clerical duties when necessary, verifies a signed physician order is received and corresponds with the billed procedure. 9.
